Wayne Keefer is a life-long resident of Washington County, Maryland, and a registered Republican from the very beginning.  Starting at the age of 18, Wayne started helping as an Election Judge with the local Board of Elections, then became the Republican Chief Judge for his hometown precinct.  Wayne was later appointed to a seat on the Washington County Board of Elections.  He has also served as campaign treasurer for state and federal office seekers.

In addition to serving on the Washington County Republican Central Committee, Wayne is a member of the Washington County Board of County Commissioners, a position he was first appointed to in 2016 and subsequently elected to in 2018 and 2022.  Commissioner Keefer consistently advocates for Republican ideals and values as a County Commissioner.  He particularly takes a strong interest in the county budget and is a true fiscal conservative with taxpayer dollars.

Wayne has had opportunities for college, business, and leisure to travel and see all corners of the globe and visit multiple continents.  As a college student, he studied abroad in China for a summer semester, an experience which only strengthened his Republican political viewpoints.

A graduate of Hancock Middle-Senior High School, Wayne continued his education locally at Hagerstown Community College, then earned his B.S. and M.B.A. from Frostburg State University. Wayne has over a decade of experience as a community banker with roles in consumer lending and corporate accounting. He is currently the Assistant Vice President / Controller for a local bank. Wayne has also taught courses in business, economics, banking, strategy, and finance as an adjunct professor with his alma mater, FSU, and with the West Virginia School of Banking. He also holds a Maryland Real Estate License and is a part-time Real Estate Agent. An active member of the community, he has served in leadership roles with many non-profit organizations.

Wayne lives in his hometown of Hancock with his wife, Janine, and daughter, Lillie.
